The Elora Community Theatre is holding auditions for its first production of the 2016-17 season, Frank Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life.
George Bailey spends his entire life giving up his big dreams for the good of his town, Bedford Falls. But in the present, on Christmas Eve, he is broken and suicidal over the misplacing of an $8,000 loan and the machinations of the evil millionaire Mr. Potter.
His guardian angel, Clarence, falls to Earth, literally, and shows him how his town, family and friends would have turned out if he had never been born.
George meant so much to so many people; should he really throw it all away?
Open auditions – no preparation necessary – are being held June 20 and 23 from 7 to 9pm at the Elora Community Theatre Workshop at the corner of Waterloo Regional Road 86 and Katherine Street, West Montrose.
Auditioners will be asked to do a cold read from the script.
Actors needed include:
– nine children (male and female), 8 to 16 years old;
– 18 adult males, 17 to 80 years old; and
– nine adult females, 18 to 70 years old.
The show will take place Nov. 4 to 6 and 11 to 13 at the Fergus Grand Theatre.
